Job Description

  • The Director of Business Analytics leads a team responsible for designing, creating and implementing the hardware and software systems and architecture to identify trends, develop metrics and make recommendations to the organization related to business process performance.
  • In addition, this team will bring large amounts of data and digital knowledge together to deliver insightful reporting and meaningful metrics to various departments and functional areas.
  • The Director of Business Analytics is a data driven role that takes an analytically rigorous approach to establishing actionable intelligence for the Operations, Program Management and Engineering teams.
  • The primary mission of this role is to behave and act as a data scientist and analyze data using statistical methods, machine learning, and analytics techniques to solve complex problems, discover meaningful insights and identify business improvement opportunities.


Ideal Candidate & Qualifications

  • Provides technical reporting of manufacturing yields, statistical trends and data analysis for various functional areas of the business.
  • Works closely with management teams to support business strategy through insights derived from analytics and reporting.
  • Primary process owner for building, validating and automating new metrics, dashboards and reports.
  • Takes ownership for designing and building incisive and meaningful business monitoring measures used to maintain/improve overall business performance and profitability.
  • Monitors and reports on manufacturing and quality trends (first pass yield, rolled throughput yield, various industrial engineering metrics, etc.) and transforms insights into improvement recommendations.
  • Identifies performance trends and recommends initiatives to address weaknesses and leverage opportunities.
  • Foster thought leadership by keeping up-to-date of industry best practices.
  • Recommend strategies leveraging an analytical approach to deliver objectives and achieve results.
  • Develop dashboards, provide transparency of results (e.g.; daily monitoring) and communicate effectively to all departments and stakeholders.
  • Execute deep dive analytics for areas within the dashboard or daily results relative to plan, forecast or targets to support quality, delivery, cost and productivity.
  • Support the story-telling to ensure insights are delivered in a meaningful and relevant manner to business partners.
  • Constantly seek out better ways to do things: new tools, new technologies, and new processes.
Qualifications:

  • Masters degree or higher in Statistics, Data Science or Industrial Engineering.
  • 5+ years of relevant progressive analytics experience, preferably within the aerospace/defense/manufacturing industry.
  • Experience in business intelligence and data analytics and mining.
  • Advanced analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Deep data mining and technical skills and experience translating data into consumable messages.
  • Strong knowledge of design, development, and implementation experience utilizing data science technologies.
  • Proven experience in analytical database architecture, business analytics, big data or related analytics roles.
  • Superior and proven experience in the application of experimental design and statistical analysis of results coupled with strong understanding of technical skills in data software such as SQL.
  • Excellent interpersonal and interaction skills to include communications, presentation and conflict resolution.
  • Demonstrated/proven ability to drive change and continuously improve existing processes.
  • Extensive experience utilizing SQL scripts/querying.
  • Ability to perform complex data analysis on large volumes of data and present findings to stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated work experience in establishing and maintaining good working relationship with all levels of the organization.
  • Experience using tools and metrics to manage development activity, including EVMS (Earned Value Management System) and IMS (Integrated Master Scheduling)
  • Expert-level computer skills, particularly in the use of database software and analysis software such as Mini-Tab.
